Our semi-custom home build with Schumacher Homes

We chose to build a semi-custom home with Schumacher Homes in Charleston, SC after falling in love with a one acre lot less than a half of a mile from the intracoastal waterway. I truly had no idea just how much we’d learn along the way. From navigating land prep and elevation requirements to budgeting for things like engineered septic systems, and modest upgrades to make this house a home, the journey has been full of surprises, spreadsheets, and some serious life perspective.

July 2024

We found a piece of land for sale and made an offer

August 2024

Our first meeting with Schumacher Homes Charleston office  to discuss budget and floor plan modifications 

Price quote meeting

October 2024

After a 2-month survey and application process, we hired a local company to clear the land. We also had our Preconstruction meeting with Schumacher Homes to confirm selections

land clearing & PreCon

May 2025

After the town approved our plans and permits, we began construction.

Broke ground

November 2025
